Pull-on breeches with no zip or belt loops. Sized like sports tights — waist and hips are key. Most feature a high waistband with full-seat or knee-patch grip.

Measure the widest point of your calf with knee slightly bent, and height from the ground (in boots) to the back of the knee. Full chaps add thigh measurement.

Must be fitted by a qualified retailer. Measure at the widest point above the eyebrows. Min standard: PAS 015:2011 or EN 13384-1:2017. BE/eventing: VG1 01.040 2014-12 or ASTM F1163. Never buy second-hand. Children's hat sizes follow the same head circumference scale — measure carefully as children's heads vary widely by age.
