In 1880 Mr. Edwin Berry Balmforth began to produce his leather laces in Macauley Street, Leeds. His company went on to become the largest manufacturers of leather laces in the world and market leader of leather preparations and preservatives. Balmforth's "Preservo" Dubbin was supplied to the soldiers at the Homefront during the 1st and 2nd World Wars.
